Black Bear Ceramics: A Mum Run Business in Harpenden

To celebrate International Women's Day...

...I have visited 4 wonderful Mums and business owners in their homes in Hertfordshire. They have shared their experiences of the Mum/Work life juggle and why they decided to set up their own businesses.

Today you are going to meet the lovely Victoria from Black Bear Ceramics, who I had the pleasure of spending the afternoon with in her home with her children.

Meet Victoria - Mum and Business Owner of Black Bear Ceramics

Welcome Victoria from Black Bear Ceramics

Can you tell us a little about your business?

We are a mobile pottery painting studio, specialising in capturing little ones handprints and footprints on ceramics. They make the perfect gift for a loved one or keepsake for yourself!

What inspired you to start your own business?

I started Black Bear Ceramics as a way of spending more time dedicated to my two loves – my family and creative activities; specifically those which are best enjoyed with lots of fun and imagination. Helping others create their own special painted and glazed ceramics seemed the perfect fit.

What did you dream of doing when you were little?

When I was younger, I always dreamt of becoming a teacher and doing something where I could use my imagination and be creative! Before Black Bear Ceramics, I worked as a full time primary school teacher.

What piece of advice do you want your daughter to have when thinking about a career?

Follow your dreams, build on your strengths and do something that makes you happy!

What advice would you give a Mum wanting to start her own business?

Set realistic goals and do what works best for you and your family to find the right work / life balance.
